In 1612, toward the end of the Renaissance, this book was published in Venice, “Galut Yehuda” – “The Exile of Yehuda”, written by Leon (Yehuda Arieh) of Modena.  Aged 13, Rav. Leon had already published a treaty warning against the addiction to gambling.  “Galut Yehuda” is a Hebrew –Italian dictionary that translates parts of the Torah, Tanaj and Pessach Haggadah (this is probably the first, although incomplete, translation of the Haggadah to Italian).  He wrote this dictionary to help prevent the decline of Hebrew and to make it more universally known.

En 1612, hacia fines del Renacimiento, en Venecia se publico este libro, “Galut Yehuda,” el exilio de Yehuda escrito por Leon (Yehuda Arieh) de Modena.  A los 13 anos, el Rav. Leon ya había publicado un tratado previniendo contra la adicción a la apuesta.  “Galut Yehuda” es un diccionario Hebreo – Italiano que traduce partes de la Torah, Tanaj y Haggadah de Pesaj (esta es probablemente la 1ra traducción, aunque incompleta, de la Haggadah).  El Rav. Leon escribió este diccionario para intentar evitar que el Hebreo se olvide, y para intentar que su uso sea mas común.
